The Department of Laboratory Medicine serves as the diagnostic backbone of Bangladesh Medical University. It combines clinical pathology, specialized diagnostic services, and academic research to support tertiary patient care, postgraduate medical education, and clinical trials.

Core Operational Wings & Diagnostic Scope

• Clinical Biochemistry & Endocrinology: Automated analysis of routine metabolic panels, cardiac markers, organ function tests, and complex endocrine/hormone assays.

• Hematology & Hemostasis: Advanced blood disorder diagnostics, complete blood counts (CBC), bone marrow examinations, flow cytometry, and coagulation profiling.

• Clinical Microbiology & Parasitology: Bacterial culture and sensitivity testing, mycology, automated blood culture systems, and parasite identification.

• Molecular Diagnostics & Virology: Real-time PCR testing, molecular pathogen detection, viral load monitoring, and genetic screening.

• Clinical Immunology & Serology: Autoimmune disease panels, infectious disease serology, and immunofluorescence testing.

• 24/7 Central Diagnostic Support: Provides continuous round-the-clock emergency laboratory testing to support ICU, CCU, emergency departments, and inpatient care across the hospital.

• Postgraduate Education & Training: Offers higher academic and specialized residency training for medical graduates in Laboratory Medicine.

• Quality Assurance & LIS Integration: Operates under strict internal and external quality control protocols, integrated directly with the university's central Hospital Information System (HIS) for real-time digital report delivery to physicians and patients.
